Feral University Rebel Rescuers (FURR) is the feral cat rescue group at the University of Mississippi with a mission to humanely control and manage the homeless cat population on the Ole Miss campus. FURR uses the Trap-Neuter-Return method (TNR) for population control, which has proven to be the most effective and the only humane way to manage feral cat populations.

During my undergraduate years at Ole Miss, I routinely volunteered to feed and humanely trap feral cats on campus, fostered kittens, and kept feral cats during their recovery periods following a spay or neuter surgery.

Between August 2004 and July 2006, I served as the student president of the organization. My responsibilities included organizing meetings, events, and fundraisers. I also collaborated with university officials, student government, local veterinarians, the local humane society, and the local city government to support efforts to humanely manage feral cat colonies in the surrounding area.

I continue to support the mission of FURR even though I am no longer local to Oxford, Mississippi. In July 2015, I transported over 700 pounds of donated cat food from Jackson to Oxford.
